Jamie + Alec’s post wedding session in Eastern Market DC

We feel the importance of a post wedding or trash the dress session is that our images incorporate the couple in some way.  This can be achieved by  the meaningful location or in this case it was also about things that they both love.  Of course one of the positive things about these are that we do not have the same time limits as we could or would have on the wedding day. It’s really about having fun and killer images!

Jamie and Alec totally rocked their post wedding session at Eastern Market in DC. These two are extremely laid back and a lot of fun to be around and I’m lucky that they were able to tolerate the heat and crowds at the market that day. I have more then a few images from this session that I am in love with but I figure I better not share every single one ;) as we are more then excited to finally share them. I want to give a shout out to Janice from Bellwether Events who is a super talented planner in the DC area who helped assist this session and shared her extremely creative mine (seriously she blows me away with her ideas). We also had some other amazing vendors listed below that we love and appreciate their help with this session.

Part 1

Michelle + Damion’s trash the dress

Michelle and Damion were actually married in Vegas at a venue that doesn’t allow outside photographers.  So sadly I couldn’t go.  I knew that they wanted to do a trash the dress session for a long time and had it on the books for quite sometime.  So when Ellen from the Washington Post called me wanting to witness a trash the dress for the new section of the Post on weddings I knew these two would be perfect.  They wanted to completely trash the dress in my parent’s river in Edinburg, VA at the end of the session and I had a laundry list of things I wanted that I can’t always get in the DC metro area and have time on the day of a wedding.  Most importantly they were all on board to let me roll and be creative.  BONUS!!

I won’t lie I was freaking out about the session.  Who wants to be infront of the camera when they are a photographer?  Plus I was getting in the river too so I had to dress appropriately.   So now there was Michelle excited about the added guests and me.  I will admit we were a little wacky at first for Damion and my hubby Chris to handle but I think we calmed down quickly and did our thing.  I am so excited to share part one from this session.  I still have a lot to edit but I know Michelle is excited to see them.  She told me she is checking the blog 10xs a day.  So here is part 1, no trashing just yet.  I believe the article is going to run the first weekend of September.  I will update that soon.

Featured in Express!

Two of my brides were featured in Express today. They interviewed Daphne about her boudoir session with me. They used an image from Crystal and Dan’s trash the dress session (the one on the right of them in the river!). I didn’t get into the city today to get a copy but Crystal sent me the PDF. They interviewed a lot of amazing photographers for this article and it’s pretty awesome to have my image featured.

Liza and Gary’s Trash the Dress at Glen Echo Park

Liza and Gary meet me at Glen Echo Park in MD right after my session with Jordan and Tim.  Boy the weather had changed very drastically from what it was an hour before.  Liza and Gary bared the elements and we had a blast exploring the grounds at the park.  Below are just a few of my favorites.

Jordan and Tim’s Trash the Dress Session

Jordan and Tim have planned a trash the dress session for sometime now and what a beautiful location Manassas Battlefield turned out to be that Sunday.  The weather hasn’t really been on their side.  Their wedding was one of the hotest summer days of 2008’s wedding season.  We finally found a day that wasn’t raining and worked for everyone’s schedules.  I had another trash the dress session scheduled right after theirs and boy the weather was completely different.

I know these two have been stalking my blog since the session.

Trash the dress

I have a date set June 1st to do trash the dress images at my Parent’s river house in Woodstock. If you are interested in taking fun images in your dress that you didn’t get on your wedding day now that your special day is over with a group of photographers please email me for details (you can be one of my old brides or not). You can always bring your groom along to join in the fun. If you have a bridesmaid or two interested that is also cool. This will be a free session with a makeup artist. If you want to do something w/your hair that is on you. I am offering time for images (5 images) from your session. Email me for details allison@abrittonphotography.com
