Happy New Years!

Wow I can honestly say this year moved faster then any other year in my life. I have really spent a lot of time thinking about how quickly it did move and what is really important in my life. We shot over 30 weddings, too many engagement sessions to count and a lot of boudoirs sessions. Many albums and print orders went through the studio. We also managed some how to open our new studio in Old Town Alexandria. Not to forget that an end of year party that I have yet to blog the images from. Needless to say the least we have been extremely busy. We are all looking forward to 2010, I am excited about all the new ideas we have in the woodwork. I am also proud of myself for learning to give up things that just couldn’t be done by one person. Lately I have been feeling a lot more like a human being vs the girl that lives behind her MAC. I am sure my family, friends and health appreciate me for finally coming to terms with my ability not to do it all. Just wanted to drop a quick line before we head out to enjoy New Years as a family. It’s been a great year and I am so looking forward to all the great things of 2010! I wish everyone the best for 2010.

We have been sick!

But we’re finally catching up.  If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you are pretty aware of it.  Plus sometimes it just isn’t easy to give the blog some love.  Ann and Chris’ wedding will be up next!

Lisa + Tony Ceresville Mansion Photographer

Lisa and Tony were married at the beautiful Ceresville Mansion on 9/25/09.  Wow what a gorgeous day full of emotion.  I had more then a blast hanging with both of their families.  Beyond amazing people.  The ceremony was full of tears and laughter.  Love it.  Dance floor was packed!  Congrats to you both.  I know Lisa is waiting to see these so let’s get to it.

Weight loss

It’s been sometime since I have shared my weight loss struggles.  But looking back I am doing the happy dance of seeing what I last shared on my blog.  I knew it would take me at least 4 months to reach my goal (since this isn’t my first time).  But more importantly I know it’s going to be harder to stay focused and keep the weight off.  So I only have 11.6 more to go!

Weekend at Massanutten

Every year for Chris’ birthday we go to Masanutten for a weekend of snowtubing and he lives on the slopes snowboarding. This year our friends Tanya and Greg came up from VA beach to enjoy my parent’s river house with us. We had a blast. Tanya and I watched got in some good chick flicks. We both can’t get Mama Mia out of our heads! Great times. Here are just a few highlights of the weekend.

We both borrowed a pair of the guy’s goggles. I think we need to get ourselves a pair of girl goggles next time!

I also wanted to shared two of the dogs. It was the puppies first snow (Sug) and Nakita (the husky is now 11). Where does the time go? Nakita is our first baby and I just feel like I am on borrowed time with her now. My Mom feels the need to feed her human food now that she is an old lady and it drives me batty! She is such a good girl and so enjoying this time of year.

Weight Loss

I have started the terrible diet.  But when you lose weight it is so worth it!  So this time I am sticking to the plan.  Personally I am sick of gaining 2 pounds after losing 2.  It feels like I have been trying to get back on the bandwagon for sometime now.  This weekend we are going with some friends to go snowboarding and tubing.  So I really hope I can stay on the plan.  Last weekend with 2 parties was a big challenge.  I will try to post my success and lack of loses.  But week one I am happy to report a lose of 5.6!!!!  I know I can’t be lucky enough to get that again next Sunday but at least I lost my trip to Arizona gain.

I have 17.2 more to go to reach my goal  Feel free to share your success to me.  It’s always great to know you aren’t alone!

My trip to Arizona

I finally finding a second to blog about going to AZ the beginning of this month.  It was a wonderful break and I came back refreshed and full of ideas about my business and photography in general.  It didn’t hurt that it was in the 70’s everyday with big blue skies!  I enjoyed the Imaging USA tradeshow, the classes through Digital Wedding Forum, and got to do a little site seeing.  Below are just a few of the sites I got to see.  I will admit I don’t think I would want to leave there but I can see visiting again in the winter.

Happy New Years

I will be the first to admit I have slacked on my blog.  I have been enjoying time with my husband, my kids, and the family over the holidays.  January has already started off with a bang.  We had a fabulous wedding on the 3rd in Annapolis with Lizzie and Kaitan. I plan to share that shortly. Since then I have been spending almost every night having client meetings.  Awesome! I leave Thursday night with my friend Jamie to Arizona till the 16th for some sight seeing and then to hang out and learn with a bunch of other wedding photographers.  I am excited!  I will be responding to emails and calls.

I promise to post my boudoir special since I have gotten several inquires.  Shoot me an email if you are interested.  info@abrittonphotography.com

As far as bookings for 2009, we are almost full and it’s only January!!!  I can’t wait to work with all the new couples this year.

Alright I have never been one that is good at writing so let’s just get to it.  Below are just some highlights of my holidays.

It’s an ugly house but they made it all by themselves

I probably wouldn’t suggest eating all of them either. Thankfully my Mom made tons too.

Aaron made my Dad a gift and my Mom asked me to restore a picture of her with me and my brother as kids. They always love gifts you put effort into vs. buying them.

Chris got Rockband for the Wii, he let me sing for almost 2 hours. If you ever been around me I can’t carry a tune. He is so the man!

Grandma came up from Mississippi and this is all the grandkids and some of the spouses.

I helped Aaron with his Lego, I can’t remember how many pieces but I know how many hours it took us.

We went to the river house for New Years. I don’t want to talk about the drinks and how I had too many!! But we had a blast. The glasses are from 2000 but hey they work. This picture reminds me of when I was a kid. I would hang out with Michelle, our parents were friends. My brother and I spent probably every New Years together. Michelle was the youngest of us all. Now Lauren is the youngest of the 3 of them. She is just like her Mom and was such a blast to be around.

I look forward to another wonderful year!

Lauren’s Holiday Event

I have neglected the blog for a little R+R w/the family.  It’s been wonderful!  I will try to catch up on some holiday posts to share what we have been up to and I have one engagement session to finally post.  Below features my future theater girl Lauren.  At this point she loves being on stage and the center of the attention.  She was amazing singing at her preschool’s holiday party.  She only seemed to slow down right before the end.  I am finally sharing a couple.
