Lauren + Brian married : Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and Westfields Marriott

Lauren and Brian were married on August 1st at the beautiful Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Old Town Alexandria and their reception followed at Westfields Marriott in Chantilly.  The wedding was gorgeous and this church is one of my favorites.  We were surrounded by their friends and family we felt so welcome and part of the gang.  Their wedding party was so much fun and game for anything.  I loved challenging them and making them jump more then once ;)  You learn a lot about a couple at the wedding.  Her father had me and about 99% of the wedding guests in tears with his speech prior to their dancing.  It was so touching!  When you spend 5 seconds with these two you see how perfect they are for each other.  Lauren is so full of humor and Brian is quiet compared to her yet they bring out the best of each other.

The Diggles : Northern VA family photographer

Trying to come up with the right words to say about a family sometimes can be such a challenge and if you know me you know I am not one for words.  This family hits home for me since their daughter is Lauren’s age and I have known Allison since she was expecting her.  We are online friends.  Weird?  Naw not really and I am happy to have I meet her.  They used to live in Baltimore and then moved to Georgia for sometime and now are basically down the street from me yet I never find time for friends much these days.  When she told me John was leaving for a year to Iraq my heart went out to her and I made time for a session.  She wanted to get some pictures taken of him with the girls before he left.  Below are my favorites from the raining indoor studio session at the studio in Old Town Alexandria.  I hope they keep him close to you guys while he is gone and the girls and you close to him.  I hope the year flies by and he returns safely back.  I promise to make more time for you guys!

Part 1

Vacation

We are on a much needed vacation. I will respond to emails as Internet and time allow. Any emergencies you can always contact my cell 703-973-2104. Off to the Nags Head to play with my kids, my nieces, hang with my parents, and spend sometime with my husband! We will return for Tara + Chris’ wedding on 8/22 and my daughter’s 5th birthday party on 8/23. August is such a crazy month! No worries I am editing some stuff while I am here.

Michelle + Damion’s trash the dress

Michelle and Damion were actually married in Vegas at a venue that doesn’t allow outside photographers.  So sadly I couldn’t go.  I knew that they wanted to do a trash the dress session for a long time and had it on the books for quite sometime.  So when Ellen from the Washington Post called me wanting to witness a trash the dress for the new section of the Post on weddings I knew these two would be perfect.  They wanted to completely trash the dress in my parent’s river in Edinburg, VA at the end of the session and I had a laundry list of things I wanted that I can’t always get in the DC metro area and have time on the day of a wedding.  Most importantly they were all on board to let me roll and be creative.  BONUS!!

I won’t lie I was freaking out about the session.  Who wants to be infront of the camera when they are a photographer?  Plus I was getting in the river too so I had to dress appropriately.   So now there was Michelle excited about the added guests and me.  I will admit we were a little wacky at first for Damion and my hubby Chris to handle but I think we calmed down quickly and did our thing.  I am so excited to share part one from this session.  I still have a lot to edit but I know Michelle is excited to see them.  She told me she is checking the blog 10xs a day.  So here is part 1, no trashing just yet.  I believe the article is going to run the first weekend of September.  I will update that soon.

Susanne + Daniel’s day after session : Great Falls, VA

Remember these two and their beautiful Oxon Hill Manor wedding?  I had such a good time having more time to hanging out with them the other day.  They decided to do a day after session (very different then trash the dress) We started the session at their Aunt and Uncle’s private home in Great Falls but choose quickly to find the light in Great Falls.  It was a lot of fun to catch up with these two and explore some of Great Falls before they closed.  Below are some hightlights from the session:

Shannon + Seth : Lansdowne Wedding

Shannon and Seth were married in Lansdowne and I don’t think either of them could have asked for a nicer July 18th wedding in Virginia.  The wind was blowing, the sky had big beautiful clouds on top of the blue skies and no humidity (come on no way!).  Shannon and I had talked about them meeting before hand and figured we would have to do all pre-formals inside so that everyone stayed cool.  But this day was so beyond perfect.  We had fun inside and outside of Lansdowne.

Shannon and Seth meet in college and have been dating for 6 years.  The ceremony had a lot of stories about their college history and how they meet.  It was very great to see so many of their friends at their wedding.  They defiantly brought it out on the dance floor and we enjoyed getting tons of great shots!  Below are just a few highlights from the wedding.  We wish you both a lifetime of happiness!
